Back in 1980, José Zanchetta, MD, started the Metabolic Researches Laboratory (LIM S.R.L.) focused on renal lithiasis analysis.
In 1986, the laboratory replaced its name by Instituto de Investigaciones Metabólicas (IDIM S.A.) and moved to Montevideo Street. IDIM has been always characterized by a specialized medical team, high-quality services, state-of-the art technology and warm and humanitarian health care.
IDIM was the first Argentine center to have its densitometer. Thus, it has promoted the development of new interaction areas, which would provide health care to patients with metabolic disorders, in general, and bone disorders, in particular.
In 1990, as a result of its growth, IDIM moved to Libertad 836, where new service areas such as Radiology, Sonography and Mammography were started. Thus, the diagnostic procedures required for patients’ health care were completed. In the nineties, the Fundación de Investigaciones Metabólicas (in English, Metabolic Researches Foundation) was started, and the laboratory merged with the health care service to strengthen the institute activity.
In the year 2001, the institute enlarged its facilities and a branch was opened in Belgrano neighborhood, which was fitted with a specialized lab, densitometry and health care offices.
Since the beginning of the medical activity, IDIM development focused on three basic and essential cornerstones, such as Health Care, Teaching and Research.
